“春”字甲骨文以“木”“日”“屯”为组合，“木”和“日”表意，“屯”既表音又表意，是形声兼会意字。原意指春阳抚照，万木滋荣，后延伸至以“春”作为一年四季的第一季名。

　　The oracle bone script form of the character “春 (chūn)”comprises“木 (mù)”,“日 (rì)”,and“屯 (tún)”.“木”and“日”convey the meaning,while“屯”serves both phonetically and semantically,rendering it a compound character combining phonetic and ideographic elements. Originally,“春(chūn)”signified the warmth and radiance of the spring sun,fostering the growth of plants. Later,it came to denote “spring”as the name for the first season among the four in a year.
