甲骨文“春”字，左边的上下是草木，中间是日，表示温暖的阳光滋润草木生长；右边的实际上是“屯”的甲骨文，表示春天到了，种子破土发芽。金文和小篆构字部件位置发生了变化。“春”本义是草木的种子生根发芽，后引申至以“春”作为一年四季的第一季名。

　　The oracle bone script form of the Chinese character “春”（chūn）shows that the top and bottom parts on the left side represent grass and trees，respectively，with the “日”（rì）symbol in the center，signifying the warmth of the sun nourishing plant growth. Its right side is derived from the oracle bone script form of “屯”（tún），symbolizing the arrival of spring and the sprouting of seeds. Later，in its bronze and small seal forms，the arrangement of all the components was altered. Initially，the character “春”referred to the rooting and sprouting of seeds，and gradually came to represent the first season of a year. （文字翻译 童林 张蕊）
